Is your body Acidic? Alkaline? What does this mean?
Our body is designed to maintain an alkaline state. However, the general population eats an entirely acidic diet which makes it difficult for the body to maintain its alkaline state. It is important to understand that we are talking about the pH of the body’s fluids and tissues. We are not talking about balancing the pH of the stomach or the stomach acid.
Our ideal pH is slightly alkaline – 7.30 to 7.45. You can test your pH levels regularly by using a piece of litmus paper in your saliva or urine first thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything. It is recommend to use the second urine in the morning for the most accurate reading.
WHY DOES PH BALANCE MATTER?
A pH balanced environment allows the body to function normally, which allows the body to fight disease. Over acidity can become dangerous to the internal environment and could lead to disease. A pH balanced diet, according to many experts, is a vital key to health maintenance.
Having an acidic body can lead to:
- Cardiovascular problems
- Bladder and kidney conditions
- Hormonal imbalance
- Chronic fatigue
- Poor digestion
What to do?
Cleansing the body is a great way to quickly balance the bodies pH. Here are a few more healthy tips to maintain an alkaline body:
